Splunk DB Connect 2: Why am I getting error "Implicit conversion from datatype 'VARCHAR' to 'INT' is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query"?

Good morning,

I have set up Splunk DB Connect 2 up to tail my rising column 'abc' column # 1.

The first import works correctly. I receive my top 1000 * from data.

On the next run, where it adds the {{$rising column$ > ?}} it begins to error out.

Here is the error (Note sybase ase)

06/16/2015 08:26:36 [ERROR] [ws.py] [DBInput Service] ERROR: Implicit conversion from datatype 'VARCHAR' to 'INT' is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query.

Why in the world is it converting the rising column value which i see in the inputs.conf as 1001 to a var char? The column is an int. Is there anything I can do for the rising column query to use an int? What am i doing wrong?
